The VoBR saw in the New Year in style with a “Whistle Up” at Oldminster Sidings – part of a nationwide celebration to mark the 200th anniversary of train services in the UK.

Providing the soundtrack for our participation in the Railway 200 WhistleUp200 were our Ruston 88, with toots, hoots and whistles embodying the spirits of our Pacer set and Fireless loco, the Planet and even a contribution from a Mamod traction engine!

2025 marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern railway – born in Britain and now spanning the globe. It’s been described as a once in a generation opportunity to explore

rail’s crucial role in national life, and there will be lots more opportunities to join in the celebrations.
